Welcome!

I'm so thrilled you dropped by! Without readers, after all, I'm just talking to myself in print.

Always, I have loved words...
the way they tumble and whirl in my mind, the feel of them in my mouth, the cadence as they emerge from my lips. I've admired the way my favourite writers have, of putting words together in phrases that engage my senses and encompass my emotions.  Always, I have wanted to be one of those writers...

There's a lot to see here. I have three webpages linked together, so far; one about me as a writer, and one for each of my major public works. You'll find pages of writing, teasers, a blog, and introductions to more than a few fabulously talented people. So grab yourself a drink, find a comfy chair and browse around. I love company!

My bio and some interview links are below, if you'd like to know more about me.

This is me...

I was born in 1970, (the math shouldn't take long), and now I live in the  Greater Toronto Area, in Ontario, Canada.
A lifetime lover of the written word, I wrote my first chapter book when I was 9 years old. "Peaches the Superdog" was a poorly titled children's book, written in my school journal.  I didn't really do anything journal-worthy, so I wrote fictional stories about my Grandparents pet Pomeranian instead. Though "Peaches..." never achieved literary acclaim, (or publication in any form), it did earn me a B+ in Grade 4 Writing, despite my atrocious handwriting.
A self-styled student of human-nature, I've spent years developing the characters and plotlines of mediocre short stories, marginal poetry and sketchy novellas.  My answer to the inevitable "What do you want to be when you grow up?" became "An author!" Adults would shake their heads sadly and ask, "But how do you intend to make money?"

Deciding journalism was a logical careeer, I geared my studies to English,
Literature, Photography and Typing skills. Acheiving an honour certificate for a Co-operative Education placement, as a Jr. reporter with the local daily paper, seemed to promise success.
At 17 years old, one credit short of both Grade 12 and O.A.C. (pre-university) diplomas, I made possibly the worst
decision in my life. I dropped out of school.
In 1992, I returned to high-school, taking an O.A.C. Writer's Craft course at Wallaceburg District Secondary School with the brilliant Mr. Edwards. My independent study project, a Fantasy-Fiction novellette, gained me an honour's certificate, both of my diplomas and a position on the waiting list of several colleges.

Despite Mr. Edwards advice to "Flesh this out and get a literary agent" the novellette never fullfilled my expectations. After several attempts at rewrites and edits, I filed it in a box under the bed where it awaits the next attempt with several additional projects.
Following a number of dead-end jobs, a few discarded dreams and a failed marriage, I met the second great love of my life, my husband. I've since been reunited with my first love, writing. Now I live quietly, in a modest house with my husband, two adorable toddlers and a cat.

"Learn to Love Me" will be the first full length novel I have published.  Crushing Hearts & Black Butterfly Publishing has graciously picked up the novel. It was released on August 10th, 2012, and is available in eBook or print format, on Amazon!
